Parents Magazine is excited to introduce Camp Arrowhead, a summer camp in Natick, Massachusetts, specifically designed for kids and adults with special needs. Camp Arrowhead offers six weeks of day camp, with registration first awarded to Natick residents and then the remaining spots through a lottery for out-of-towners. The registration process is completely submitted online.
The camp runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm five days a week, with groups of ten campers spaced out per regulations. Campers participate in some activities as part of their groups, while other activities are done as a camp. Each camper is paired with a one-on-one buddy, either provided by the camp or one that parents can provide, to provide companionship and assistance as needed. If a camper requires full assistance in the bathroom or changing clothes, a one-on-one buddy must be provided by the parent.
Camp Arrowhead provides a safe and supportive environment to help kids and adults with special needs have a fun and fulfilling summer experience.
In addition to our six-week day camp program, Camp Arrowhead also offers a SEVEN-day overnight program. Fifteen campers ages 16 and up.
Eligibility
In order to attend the residential camp you must first attend at least one of the first two weeks of day camp (to give the staff a chance to know you) the year you plan to attend. We will meet prior to the camp season and after your week of day camp to discuss eligibility.
At this time there will be no swimming offered for 2022 and we will update you if that changes.
Please note:
We find the 1:1 volunteer/camper companionship very important. The bond that is built is important for both the camper and the 1:1. We truly feel they are needed for all individuals attending in a “typical setting”.
