At UKSD, our goal is to develop young leaders who are driven to make an impact, both locally and globally. Through our program, we work to foster a sense of community in the teens we serve. We use sports as a tool for connecting with the community, teaching valuable skills, and increasing self-awareness and appreciation for diversity.
Our program is also focused on educating our participants on social issues that are impacting young people across the world. We align our topics of education with the United Nations' sustainable development goals, and use these issues to guide our community service projects. Our mission is to develop leadership skills in young people, so they can make a difference and become the change they want to see in the world.
Each year, our KP4FP programs allow young people, regardless of their race, socio-economic background, or abilities, the opportunity to participate. We are able to provide a safe place for children to not just play, but to truly bring the community together through sports, as we encourage diverse groups to collaborate and work together.
Furthermore, these programs are organized and implemented by qualified coaches, educators, and trained peer leaders. It is our mission to provide instruction for the whole child. Sports are merely a piece of each program, as we also work to raise awareness about social issues, teach life skills, promote physical and mental health and wellbeing, and to increase student engagement within schools.

Projects Through Play
Our Projects Through Play model combines experiential education, purposeful play, and project-based learning philosophies. Our staff is comprised of coaches who have decades of experience as main-stream educators and sports coaches. Because of this, we have been able to create a program that uses exploration and movement curriculums for young people to truly learn about social issue topics and empower youth to take control of their own education. The UKSD Projects Through Play model allows UKSD coaches to work alongside and facilitate students and educators while they design and create their own projects and social awareness initiatives. We believe that our methodology not only helps build life skills and social awareness, but it also empowers participants to create and sustain their own projects.
