Welcome to Fivesparks, a vibrant community arts collective! We are devoted to offering equal access to chances that will expand and diversify social and cultural experiences in the wider community.
Fivesparks was founded in 2017 from the Harvard Cultural Collaborative (“HCC”). Our home is the historic Hapgood building in the Town, which was built in 1887. It has been a hub for the public to come together, get educated, and explore the possibilities of expression and knowledge.
This class will help young singers master simple and fun songs, ‘manage their breath’ as singers, improve vocal tone and pronunciation and to sing expressively. They will learn to sing rounds and ‘hold a part’, listen carefully, work effectively with other kids; and to read music notation.
The class provides a fast-paced introduction to the Kodály approach, including solfege syllables (do-re-mi) and hand signs for singing and rhythmic solfege (ta ta tee-tee). This type of musical instruction supports and supplements instrumental studies on piano, violin, and cello.

Kids’ Guitar Lessons – Mondays
Beginning to intermediate guitar lessons, starting at age 8.
This instrument continues to engage young people, particularly when it is used to play the music that they choose, and when it is combined with vocal performance and song-writing. Students can learn to play completely “by ear,” but they are also invited to learn to read music on this instrument.
This is a semester-long program (September-January). Lessons can be private or semi-private (2-3 students together). Offered on Monday or Tuesday evenings (after Music for Little Kids or Children’s Choir), between 5:00-7:30pm. Private lessons are 1/2 hour while small group lessons may take 45 minutes.
