This transaction was an extremely lucky turn of events for the organization. Camp Kiwanee's Needles Lodge has been on the National Register of Historic Properties since February of 2005. It's the very first Hanson property to be included in the register, and for good reason: this much-loved building and its surrounding area are truly a gem. Originally owned by Albert Burrage, a lawyer and businessman from Boston, the land was purchased in 1899. He and his family spent their summers there until a fire destroyed the house and its contents in 1907. Burrage rebuilt the house and added a stone firehouse and cottage, all finished by 1908. In 1922, he sold the property to Camp Fire Girls on a whim, thinking Hanson was taxing him too heavily. This fortunate decision has made a great difference to the organization.

Sisters Traci Coletti and Lisa Hokanson have been passionate about providing a strong educational foundation for young students since they opened First Step Preschool in January of 1997. With backgrounds in education, they strive to create an environment that gives children ages 2.9 - 6 years old the opportunity to learn and socialize in a safe and encouraging atmosphere. First Step Preschool goes beyond the traditional preschool experience. We make sure to recognize the individual needs of each student and provide them with an immersive, unique learning experience. This is the foundation of our preschool and we take this responsibility very seriously.

Steve Ferroli has an incredible story to tell. As a young camp counselor at Ted Williams Camp in Lakeville, MA, he experienced something that he will never forget. Ferroli was 19-22 years old when he met Ted Williams, who was 61-64 at the time. He formed an extraordinary bond with the Hall of Fame baseball player that still resonates with campers to this day. The relationship between Ferroli and Williams is reminiscent of the bond between ET and the young boy Elliot in the movie ET. Ferroli hopes that those who come to Ted Williams Camp can appreciate the special origin of the various baseball programs and take advantage of their design. For over 40 years, the camp has developed a unique baseball world that is both historical and futuristic. This world has been created to provide players with an incredible opportunity to learn and grow. Through his experience, Ferroli has seen firsthand the powerful impact that the camp can have on young people’s lives.

At BGSA, we believe that the development of young soccer players starts with fun. Rainbow Camp of Massachusetts has been providing a unique and fun experience for Rainbow Girls since 1948. Founded by Mrs. Lulu H. Young athletes ages 9-14 in the New England area have the opportunity to join the Ted Williams League and play America's pastime in the perfect summer weather. Players will learn the game of baseball under the league's rule and use wooden bats provided by the league. Games will be held in our field in Hanson, MA from June 20th until August 1st. Not only will the players be able to enjoy the beautiful New England summer mornings, but they will also be able to learn the fundamentals of the game of baseball.
