Summer Camp

On the Farm: Each day, campers learn about farming and where food comes from—both vegetables and livestock—by participating in activities as varied as composting, planting, harvesting, and preparing soil for crops. They get to know the most important members of our farm team—chickens, pigs, sheep, goats, and rabbits—by caring for the animals, collecting eggs, and learning about animal life on the farm. In the Kitchen: Great farming translates into fantastic food, so our junior farmers also become chefs each day through cooking lessons in Powisset’s fully equipped teaching kitchen. Campers learn about healthy, farm-fresh foods while preparing delicious recipes. They indulge in their creations at the end of each class and bring recipes home to share with families. In the Woods: Junior Forester days focus on exploring our natural world. Campers visit Powisset’s extensive nature trails or neighboring Noanet Woodlands, where they hike the hills and trails and discover the wonders of woodland flora and fauna. Our place-based practice is inspired by this exceptional property while building on The Trustees’ expertise in nature conservation, historic landscapes, regenerative agriculture, and culinary education.
