At Boxboro Children Center, established in 1987, we understand the importance of forming a bond and connection with each child and family. Our smaller size allows us to focus on each child individually and ensure that every child’s individual goals are met. Dragonflies
4 – 5 years of age
The year before Kindergarten, children transition to the “Dragonfly” group. We continue to expand on the foundation begun in the Butterfly classroom, increasing expectations as the children’s skills and interests multiply. The children are challenged to participate in hands-on activities in all learning areas, individually, in small groups and in a large group. In addition to pre-reading and beginning math activities, we encourage the opportunity and learning experiences for children that support age appropriate problem solving, critical thinking, communication, language and literary development, social skills and relationship building and decision making which fosters independence and responsibilities as well as opportunities to make choices. We have a great relationship with the local Kindergarten teachers, meeting yearly to ensure are children will be successful in school. Our goal is to create life-long learners ready to go off to Kindergarten.

Butterflies
2.9 – 4 years of age
Our Preschool “Butterfly” classroom is typically from 2.9 years old to 4 years old. As the “Tadpoles” transition to the “Butterfly” classroom we begin to work more on independence and self-help skills as well as cooperative play. The classroom is bright and spacious with various learning centers such as dramatic play , science exploration, manipulatives, art and sensory table as to promote individual choice, creativity and group play.
One of our goals is to create a love of learning, which we do through play and hands-on experiences with an emergent curriculum. We provide opportunities and learning experiences for children that support age appropriate problem solving, critical thinking, communication, language and literary development, social skills and relationship building and decision making which fosters independence and responsibilities as well as opportunities to make choices.

Tadpoles
15 months – 2.9 years of age
Our Toddler program runs from 15 months to 2.9 years. The “Tadpole” classroom is a bright, spacious room with up to nine children and two teachers. The room is set up with various learning centers such as dramatic play, science exploration, manipulatives, art, sensory table and story/music time as well as sign language and yoga. We believe that children learn best through play and hands-on exploration. We provide an emergent curriculum which promotes your child’s development through this busy, exciting time.
