Joey E06/14/20225I went while the Maple Sugar Festival was going on, and it was wonderful. With free trolley service to the location, there is no shortage of parking accessible at Houghtons Pond and other surrounding locations. The various stages of making maple syrup were all on show. The Trailside museum was free to enter that day, and the DNR also had several birds and horses on show. The one letdown was that there was no way to purchase the maple syrup made on the farm, even though a free sample of fresh maple syrup was offered there.
Cherry G07/20/20225We studied everything there is to know about making syrup, including how to gather sap and how Native Americans were the first to realize this was possible. A barn owl and a red-tailed hawk were also shown to us, and we learned all about them. Additionally, they provided a little hay/tractor ride. Good location all around, with a campfire, mud, horses, and food.
Pete D06/14/20224.88I always take pleasure in dropping over to purchase something from the farm stand. Additionally, if you're fortunate enough to be able to, I strongly advise purchasing a stake from here. The staff is consistently welcoming and frequently extremely knowledgable about the varied items they sell.
Paula H07/21/20225went on a field trip with the school. It was one of my favorite field excursions ever. I can't wait to return and buy some fresh food!
