About Create: Art in Community

Make art in the company of like-minded people and turn your creative ideas into works of art. Create: Art in Community provides a unique opportunity for artists and non-artists to come together in the village and explore their creativity. Artists of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to join in the classes, workshops, open-studio activities, and drop-in sessions. These classes and workshops are designed to help anyone from beginners to experienced artists to hone their craft and develop their skills. At Create: Art in Community, you can take part in a supportive and inspiring creative environment. Whether you’re looking to take a class, attend a workshop, or just drop by for a few hours, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to explore your creative skills and share your ideas with like-minded people. MULTIPURPOSE SCULPTURES
In this course we will explore how to make ceramic sculptures that have utility such as piggy banks, ornaments, chess/checkers set, wall hooks, and more! Students will also be challenged to think outside of the box and invent everyday items with many uses. Using handbuilding and surface techniques, they will learn various ways of designing and completing their projects.

NATURE ART
Students will create art projects using a variety of materials and methods from both Create’s studio and the great outdoors! We will experiment with drawing, painting, printmaking, frottage (rubbings), and sculpture. Students may be able to visit the Arnold Arboretum or local parks to collect materials and inspiration!

PAPER WEAVING
Take your paper crafting techniques to a new level with paper weaving textures. This class/workshop will allow you to explore my favorite collage techniques and how woven paper can be added for extra detail. Find the technique you enjoy the most to create your own small work or greeting card. No art experience required just an excitement to create and explore!
