For nearly three-quarters of a century, Capron Park Zoo has been a top-notch destination for families in southern New England. We strive to provide a beautiful and clean recreational facility that will give our visitors valuable learning opportunities about the world's animals. Our goal is to leave a lasting impression of animal conservation, ecological awareness and appreciation of all living things.
We want to encourage our visitors to become life-long learners and conservationists. We are dedicated to giving them the tools to gain a deeper understanding of the natural world. Through our interactive exhibits and programs, we strive to give our guests the motivation to be the change they wish to see in the world.
At Capron Park Zoo, we work to create an unforgettable experience that can lead to a more informed, passionate and sustainable future. We believe that by educating and inspiring our visitors, we can make a real difference in the way animals are treated and the way we interact with our environment.
Guided Tour Programs are engaging and active way to teach kids about a variety of animal and nature topics while enjoying the zoo. Tours are designed for 15-18 children and 3-4 adults and last between 30-45 minutes.

Wild Encounters Exploring Nature
These are trying times. We are constantly bombarded with new images that are frightening and worrisome. It’s hard to cope day-to-day with everything. Most people have reached what is known as their “threshold of worry” – meaning there just isn’t the mental or physical bandwidth to deal with anymore information from the media, good or bad.
But the most important thing we can do right now is stay healthy. The One Health Initiative is gaining ground in making this happen. By starting to focus on keeping animals (wild and domestic) healthy, and keeping the environment healthy, we are learning to keep ourselves healthy!
