At A Place To Grow Afterschool at the Stratton School, we provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment where children can thrive. Established in 1992, we care for 78 children each day and offer a variety of activities to engage and entertain them. From art and drama to science and sports, our teachers create a space where children can play with friends and get the help they need with homework.
We also support children on school vacation weeks, teacher professional days and school early release days. We provide a clean, attractive classroom space and thoughtfully planned environment. Our teachers are caring and involved, and our children are always smiling and engaged. It’s the perfect place to grow!

Infant Program
A partnership with parents is at the heart of our philosophy for taking care of infants. We want the care that your baby receives at school to be an extension of the care they receive from home. When parents arrive at A Place To Grow, we want to hear about your baby’s night and morning so we can understand their needs for the day. In this way, your baby’s schedule is unique. In turn, you will receive an Infant Daily News which will tell you all about your baby’s day with us. Our classrooms all have telephones and we invite you to “check in”.

Toddlers
Our toddler rooms are a bustle of independent activity as toddlers struggle “to do it by myself”. They need thoughtful teachers who are close by and who encourage this new phase of development. They are learning new skills and changing each day. We support their fine and gross motor coordination, taking care of their belongings and themselves, and most importantly being a friend and making friends. Your child’s social and emotional development and health is our top priority and an integral part of our curriculum.

Preschool
We offer preschool children a carefully prepared environment, freedom to make choices, stimulating activities and guidance from teachers who understand the impact of early education on children’s development. Our classrooms are divided into learning centers that include: art, building, dramatic play, a reading corner, and science, sensory and math materials. Teachers change the content of the work as the year progresses and as the interests and skills of the children emerge and develop. Our curriculum is aligned with the Department of Education’s Preschool Curriculum Guidelines.
