About Amesbury Recreation

Our mission is to give Amesbury’s youth access to a variety of social, physical, recreational, educational, and cultural experiences at an affordable price. For 16 years, Amesbury Youth Recreation has been providing quality before and after school care and summer enrichment activities. We are proud to participate in community events such as Kids Day in the Park and Amesbury Days. Our organization partners with outstanding vendors from the Seacoast region to offer the best activities for the entire family.

Adventure Programs
During our hiking excursions, campers will learn how to read a map, how to work as a team, how to pack a hiking pack with all essential items, how to Leave No Trace (LNT) travel, and the importance of leaving the wilderness better than they found it. They will develop safety skills and be informed regarding wildlife encounters, natural hazards, lost person scenarios, and possible injuries. This program emphasizes personal growth and campers will develop self-reliance, responsibility, teamwork, confidence, compassion, environmental and community stewardship, as well as gain physical stamina as a result of traveling by foot into beautiful wilderness areas

Preschool Program
This program runs Monday- Friday and offers a great opportunity to introduce your 3 - 5 year old to fun group activities in an easy going, outdoor atmosphere. The program will consist of outdoor arts and crafts, splash pad fun, story time, sports, playground games, guest entertainers, skill building, walking field trips, singing, lunchtime and more! This program takes place at the Amesbury Town Park under the shade structure. Pick up and drop-off is also located under the shade structure

Park Program
Activities at the Park Program include group games, arts & crafts, sports, theme days, nature walks, team building activities, talent shows, and more! Children are grouped by age (Pollywogs ages 6-8 and Frogs ages 9-12) so games and activities are age appropriate. Every Wednesday is water play day for everyone! Thursdays are field trips, free of charge, such as a Fisher Cats baseball game, water park, zoo, trampoline park and more. Friday is guest entertainer day get excited for an animal show, magician, musician, and other surprises in store
