At Berkshire Dance Theatre, we understand how important it is for children to be exposed to the performing arts. We’re here to foster this interest and help our students to develop their technical and artistic skills.
We’re passionate about helping our students reach their highest potential in all areas of dance and other performing arts. Our non-profit organization offers classes at all levels, from beginner to advanced. We’re dedicated to building public awareness and appreciation of these art forms and providing an environment of learning and growth.
At BDT, we strive to provide our students with the best learning experience possible. We offer a safe and nurturing environment that encourages exploration and creativity. Our teachers are experienced professionals who share their knowledge and expertise with each student and strive to help them reach their goals.
Our classes for children ages 3-7 provide a strong foundation for future work in dance. They teach appropriate classroom behavior, while helping students gain self-confidence, independence and a basic knowledge of dance movement.

Developmental Classes
Our classes for beginners provide correct technical progressions for growing minds and bodies. Through class performances and preparation for our annual production, students gain self confidence and poise while developing artistry and a joy of dance.

LEVEL I AND II
At BDT, Ballet technique classes are the foundation for training and focus of young dancers. At this level, emphasis is placed on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (épaulement), and use of arms (port de bras). Dancers will learn basic exercises at the barre, movement in the centre and simple combinations of steps across the floor. It is at this level that the young dancer will also begin to learn the ballet vocabulary.
