For over 40 years, NWSRA has been making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. This unique partnership of 17 Park Districts provides recreational opportunities for children and adults alike. Led by certified staff, NWSRA offers thousands of innovative programs and services each year. Individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to make friends, have fun, go new places, learn new things, be included, and celebrate their lives. NWSRA is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive environment for all. This commitment has been recognized with a Distinguished Accredited Agency award from the Illinois Park and Recreation Association as well as the National Recreation and Park Association's Excellence in Inclusion Award for national leadership in diversity and inclusion initiatives. NWSRA has been enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and beyond for over 40 years.
Rolling Meadows Park District celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2018, having been formed in 1958. The District has been widely recognized for their excellence in parks and recreation management, having been awarded Distinguished Park and Recreation Accredited and Excellent Level A status from the Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association and Distinguished Budget recognition from the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association since 2014. In addition, the District has been a finalist five times for the National Gold Medal award for excellence in parks and recreation management, most recently in 2019. It is an impressive feat, and further evidence of the District’s commitment to creating a high-quality park experience for its residents.
