Through 4-H, Illinois youth are being prepared to become the leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, stewards and builders of tomorrow that our state needs. 4-H provides a safe and encouraging environment for youth to practice the skills needed to become successful leaders. Youth engage in activities such as public speaking, problem solving, goal setting and decision making that help them develop leadership qualities. 4-H also encourages youth to become engaged in their local communities and take action to make a difference. Through service learning and community service projects, youth learn valuable lessons in civics, citizenship, communication, and collaboration that will help them become successful, responsible citizens.

At Camp GranADA, located in Monticello, IL, children with diabetes are able to hone the important skills necessary to manage their illness. Camp GranADA provides kids with an opportunity to acquire social and self-respecting skills, as well as form life-long friendships. By offering education and guidance in health and nutrition, exercise, emotional health and glucose control, Camp GranADA seeks to empower children with diabetes to lead successful and independent lives. At Camp GranADA, campers have access to medical supervision, lunch, snacks, an ADA camp t-shirt, activities and some diabetes supplies. Camp GranADA is the perfect place for children with diabetes to learn how to manage their illness, build self-confidence and gain an awareness of a healthy lifestyle. Camp GranADA is the ideal place for kids with diabetes to make lasting memories while learning the tools to stay healthy. With medical supervision and ADA-approved methods of diabetes management, kids can gain the knowledge they need to grow and thrive. Camp GranADA is dedicated to providing a safe space for kids to build friendships, form emotional connections and develop an understanding of diabetes self-care.
