Kids Matter/Episode 9
Adria Dawn is excited to be back to help create the 9th episode in Revealing Media Group’s award-winning educational film series, Kids Matter.
Join Adria on this five-week creative journey. In the first four weeks of class, students will help brainstorm storylines, improv potential dialogue, and learn about what goes on behind the camera. Additionally, students will write their own monologue to audition for a role in the film they are making, that’s collectively cast by the students and teacher. In the fifth class, your child will be part of a two-day professional film shoot.

The Ensemble
The Ensemble is a highly competitive audition-only group, developed in 2015 by Stacey Flaster and Liz Fauntleroy, mostly because they felt that middle-school aged kids 6th-8th grade needed a place to perform musical theater productions at a higher level. Using the experience that Stacey and Liz have gained from their professional backgrounds in musical theater around Chicago and beyond, they now share their collective knowledge and skills with the kids to create spectacular productions with top-notch production values. These high-level shows include great sound, live orchestras, fully realized and designed costumes, gorgeous sets and props and superb lighting. Rehearsals are weekly, Thursdays from 6 to 9 PM and Sundays from 12 to 5. In addition to rehearsing for the show, Stacey and Liz also invite between two to four per year to work with the kids on different areas of the arts, such as dance, improv, on-camera acting, stage combat and many other areas. Included in the ensemble fee, the students will attend two professional musicals. Our Ensemble performs in two full productions, one in December and one in May.

The Troupe
The Troupe is a highly competitive, audition-only group that is led by Performer/L.C.S.W. Lisa Sobelman. The group was founded in 2017 by Maggie Portman for fourth and fifth grade students. This group meets on Thursdays from 4 to 6 PM and on Saturdays from 12 to 2. The students perform two musicals per year, one in December and one in May. Each student will be provided with a costume, a microphone, wonderful sound, lights, props and costumes and a beautiful set. The students will learn how to work collaboratively; and in class they will learn character development, choreography and how to work and connect with their peers. This is a wonderful precursor to The Ensemble.
