At Glenview Community Church Nursery School, we’re proud to have been serving families since 1947. Our school offers a play-based, non-sectarian curriculum that encompasses social, emotional, physical and cognitive concepts. We strive to meet the needs of each individual child while adjusting the learning environment as they grow and develop. We’re honored to be one of the most highly regarded Nursery Schools on the North Shore, and are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The "OMO" class is for the 2-year-old who is ready to be away from home on their own 2 or 3 times a week. The child independently experiences a classroom environment interacting with other children at teacher planned play centers. At rug time, the teacher leads stories, songs, and finger-plays. Children are also able to explore their environment during playground time. The child will experience opportunities for social and emotional growth, as well as a happy transition into the 3-year-old "JUNIOR" class.

On My Own

The Junior class is for the 3-year-old who will focus on mastering self-help skills and encouraging positive peer interaction. Each child's uniqueness is nurtured through a balance of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities. In this secure, stable environment, young children actively engage in hands-on exploration of a variety of learning resources. Through play, children attempt new challenges and take appropriate risks. All of these experiences stimulate curiosity, build self-esteem, and provide opportunities for social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth within a community of learners.

Juniors

The "SENIOR" class is for the 4-year-old who continues to grow in their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Early concepts in math, science, literacy, and problem-solving are explored through experiences both outdoors and inside the classroom. The curriculum is further extended through parent participation and various community programs. Engaging the older preschoolers in these individual and group activities develops their confidence and readiness for more structured learning, providing a comfortable kindergarten transition.

Seniors

For any child who has been or will be enrolled in GCCNS: Come and have fun with friends at GCCNS Summer Camp where the playground becomes our classroom. Children will explore the theme of nature in a relaxed atmosphere filled with discovery and outdoor play.

Great administrators, educators, and parent community! Everyone is affable and reasonable. This age group needs a curriculum that emphasizes play. Every night, my daughter sings the songs and tells me stories about their day. She tears uncontrollably since she loves going to school and misses a day or two when she has a fever; it's very amusing.
