SOCIAL JUSTICE LEAGUE

Mudlark Teaching artists partner with Evanston classroom teachers in this residency, and use their toolbox of theater skills and exercises to activate social emotional learning skills to create positive social change. With a goal to increase self and community awareness, teaching artists investigate the specific needs of each classroom and create theatrical events in conversation with these needs. Each classroom will pick a specific issue that they want to engage with. Teaching artists then lift up the student voice in order to create tangible social change in policy, awareness, and an increase in empathy in the Evanston community. The goal of this residency is to offer young people the tools and experiences to self-identify as an artist-activist and community member engaged in collective learning and change.
