Developing Melodies is a music therapy center located in Bloomington, IL that was established in 2006. Founded by Meryl Brown MM, MT-BC, DT, the Neurologic Music Therapist, the center offers music therapy, adapted music lessons, and music groups to clients. Developing Melodies believes in using music to help their clients reach their fullest potential and maximize their individual strengths. Every year, Developing Melodies serves over 500 individuals. 

At Developing Melodies, clients are able to find the help they need with a personalized approach. The center looks to use music to help induce changes to meet the needs of each individual. With the help of Meryl Brown MM, MT-BC, DT, the Neurologic Music Therapist, and the other staff at Developing Melodies, clients are able to get the assistance they need to reach their goals. 

To enrich the community, Developing Melodies uses music as its primary resource. By providing music therapy, adapted music lessons, and group music sessions, Developing Melodies is able to help individuals find success and reach their fullest potential. Every year, Developing Melodies provides services to over 500 people, and is proud to be a part of transforming lives through music.

Developing Melodies offers individual music therapy services for babies, children, adults and seniors. Following an initial music therapy assessment and consultation, the music therapist and the patient, or patient’s family, will determine goal treatment areas and frequency of service, should music therapy be an appropriate modality.



An Inclusive Early Childhood Music Experience offers children, ages birth to 5, and caregivers an opportunity to explore and experience music in a fun and meaningful way. This curriculum is designed to focus on the developmental needs of children, while offering age-appropriate musical experiences. Interventions include; singing, movement and structured instrument play, plus so much more.  Our young participants will learn, grow, create, socialize and start building lasting relationships.

Tiny Melodies

Sessions are planned specifically for the group visiting the center, so each session is an individualized and unique experience. Participants will play instruments, sing songs, dance and experience music and all it has to offer.

Each group must be accompanied by at least one adult for every ten individuals. This field trip is suitable for in-home daycare programs, early childhood programs and small school programs.

No matter how long it has been since we last saw Miss Meryl, she never fails to put my kids at ease. And she always shows respect to every child, even those who take a little time to warm up. With music, she satisfies their needs and meets them where they are. As an adult, it is great to witness and take part in. I always have a grin on my face when I leave. As do all kids.
