At SWSRA, we are committed to providing quality special recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. We strive to meet the changing needs of our participants and our member communities, and consistently set new standards of value. We believe that recreation is necessary for all persons in our member communities to experience and enjoy positive leisure opportunities. SWSRA takes photographs or video of participants for promotional purposes, including brochures, website, and agency social media. Participants or parents/guardians of a minor participant irrevocably agree to the use and distribution of images without inspection or approval and without compensation or rights to royalties. We are proud to be able to provide our participants with this opportunity.

Programs at South West Special Recreation Association in Alsip, IL

OASIS

OASIS was created to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities aged 18 and older and onsite participation generally operates at a staff-to-participant ratio of 1:6 to 1:4. This is a structured program that is designed to help improve independence, enhance basic life skills and social skills, and incorporate a recreational lifestyle. General program goals are to provide quality recreation services as well as increase and maintain social skills through well-designed activities and possible community outings and field trips. Also promote independence through daily iving skills, social interactions, cooking, health & fitness, and leisure activities. Foster social interaction with peers and the community. Encourage the growth and knowledge of nutritional meal planning along with a fitness regimen.

Sensory Depot

A sensory room is a specifically designed environment for people ages 3 to adult with various ability levels to experience a variety of senses and to assist in developing specificskills. Sensory rooms are used to create a safe atmosphere to relax and benefit specific sensory processing difficulties
