The Li'l Abner Foundation is dedicated to providing the resources and support needed to help our community thrive. Founded in 2009, we have seen a great deal of growth in the number of programs and participants, and recently moved to a larger and better location. Our efforts have resulted in a beneficial impact on the community, with more than 20,000 members of the City of Sweetwater benefitting from our programs. 

We provide not only recreational and educational programs, but also scholarships to help those in our community reach their full potential. Our scholarship program for children offers the opportunity for them to attend Belen Jesuit Preparatory School from 6th to 12th grades. We also offer scholarships for adults to attend Florida International University, with up to 5 years of tuition covered. 

At the Li'l Abner Foundation, our mission is to provide positive and beneficial impacts to our community, with the ultimate goal of improving the lives of all residents. We are proud of the growth and success we have seen so far, and remain committed to continuing our work and helping our community thrive.

The Li’l Abner Foundation’s after-school tutoring program is directed by a State of Florida Department of Education Certified Teacher, assisted by volunteer students from the F.I.U. Honors College and Belen Jesuit Preparatory High School. They assist the underserved children from our community with their studies and homework assignments. In this way, we help them to improve in school, acquire knowledge and focus on achieving their goals in life.

Tutoring

Our Taekwondo program teaches children and teens the benefits of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo style, giving them a focus on life. We emphasize   Respect, Humility, Self Control,  Perseverance, and Honesty. Our Classes are from 5 yrs old and up.

Li’l Abner Foundation archery is an official USA Archery club,  serving Miami-Dade County since 2015. Our Archery Range is located in Sweetwater, near major highways like FL Turnpike and 836.

This school year, we are offering our community our renewed dance program; in which we will include Ballet, Hip Hop  & Contemporary. Our program will begin on Tuesday May 3rd. Registrations are open.
