Sarasota Young Voices is a children’s chorus that has been building a love of music since 2007. Founded by Geneviève Beauchamp, the choir has quickly become one of Florida’s best. Every week, school-aged singers from Sarasota and Manatee counties get together to sing, laugh, and learn. They also serve their community by performing for a variety of events like the Sarasota Orchestra, Gloria Musicae, Key Chorale, and Belle Canto.

As the Choir-in-Residence at Church of the Palms, Sarasota Young Voices performs monthly in one or more of their services. Each summer, the older singers also go on a tour of festivals and venues both nationally and internationally. Since its founding, they have traveled to Greece, Vancouver, New Orleans, Quebec, Denver, Paris, London, and Dublin. These experiences help to build their musical skills and provide memories that will last a lifetime.

Sarasota Young Voices is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for children to express themselves through music. With their love of music and commitment to their community, this chorus has quickly become one of Florida’s best. Every week, they come together to create something special and to make lasting memories.

Training choir is the perfect place for students in grades 3-5 to learn basic vocal and performance techniques using many different kinds of music from around the world. In addition to traditional choral rehearsal methods, singers learn through engaging activities including rhythm and movement, while making lasting friendships. Training Choir performs at two major concerts each year as well as outreach performances and special events.

Training Choir

Our Concert Choir ranges from grades 6-12. This intermediate to advanced choir includes brand new singers as well as seasoned singers. The vocal quality and professionalism our directors achieve in this diverse group is amazing. Singers learn a variety of music in multiple languages and an increased level of music theory with a focus on developing their choral musicianship. They are awarded the opportunity for solos and duets. Concert Choir performs throughout the season. In addition, singers ages 12 and up are eligible to participate in our summer tour.

Concert Choir

We provide a nurturing, encouraging environment within which to explore creative movement, rhythmic movement, small percussion, dances from different cultures, and concepts helpful to singing. Kids of all ages are exposed to a variety of stimulating experiences which help them grow both musically and personally. Not only do we work on melody, harmony, beat, rhythm, form and tone color, we also work on problem-solving, creative thinking, social interaction and ways to accept and support each student unconditionally. Let your child grow with us as we build new learning skills and concepts that not only help music but other subjects such as math, science, and reading. Working on steady beat has been proven to raise test scores in reading and math and provides the glue for singing, playing, and moving in groups. But most of all, it helps singers become the best they can be.

I wholeheartedly endorse and support SYV. I think both of my kids were involved with the choral group from the start. Thank you Genevieve Beauchamp for all you have done to help my children and the many others who take part in SYV or hear them sing to have Love, Life, and Song in their hearts.
