In 2018 we moved to a much larger facility just off of I-72. We are now in a 20,000 sq ft building that has everything we need to host an amazing competition season. We've grown from three athletes in 2012 to over 200 in 2020. It all began in 2012 at a small gym in Auburn, Illinois. Three athletes started the competition season at the aptly-named Small Gym, Big Heart. As the program grew, the gym was upgraded to a larger, more efficient space on the south side of Springfield. However, the parking lot was unable to accommodate the increasing number of participants. Eventually, in 2018, Small Gym, Big Heart moved to a much larger facility off I-72. The facility is now 20,000 square feet, providing all the necessary accommodations to host a successful competition season. In the eight years since its inception, Small Gym, Big Heart has grown from three athletes in 2012 to over 200 in 2020.

Founded in 1949 by Bill Rutland as part of the Sarasota High School gymnastics program, the Sailor Circus has grown in popularity over the years. In order to accommodate the increasing audience attendance, the circus moved to the football field at Sarasota High School and added center poles to perform aerial acts in open air. In an amazing act of generosity, James A. Haley, an official of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus®, secured permission for this student circus to use the world-famous copyright title with the addition of one word “Little”, from then on Sailor Circus was called “The Greatest “Little” Show On Earth”. How amazing is that?

The LaFleur family was honored at the 2011 USA Gymnastics Business Conference for their remarkable achievements, contributions, and dedication to the sport of gymnastics. Their connection to the sport, which spans four generations of competing gymnasts, coaches, judges, and club owners, dates all the way back to the 1930s! Julie LaFleur, the owner and operator of LT, has long been passionate about children, gymnastics and dance. She earned a sports scholarship to the University of Minnesota, where she majored in Physical Education and minored in Dance. It was there that she met her husband Jeff.

Tumblebees Gymnastics is a family-owned business that has been in operation for over 35 years. It is one of the most successful and largest gymnastics schools in South Florida. Bruce Davis, director of Flip Flops and Fitness, began his gymnastics journey at the ripe age of eight. Under the instruction of Walt Lienert at Athenaeum Turners in Indianapolis, Indiana, Bruce went on to compete for Southern Connecticut State University from 1962 to 1965. There, he was coached by Olympians Abie Grossfeld, Muriel Grossfeld, Don Tonry, and Jamile Ashmore, a Pan American Games gold medalist. Following that, Bruce earned his Masters degree from Ohio University in 1966. He then went on to teach and coach at Miami Dade College for 33 years. His most notable accomplishment during this time was coaching the 1969 NJCAA National Champions and winning five consecutive NAIGC Men's Championships from 1993 to 1997.

In 1999, Lane Beatty, a physical educator, had a vision to create a new type of summer camp for working parents in Naples, Florida. The Sports CLUB concept was a revolutionary idea that allowed children to choose from a variety of activities throughout the day, based on 45-minute rotations. Lane’s concept was based on the type of sports and games he had played growing up in a small town in Northern Michigan. After a successful summer camp, parents asked to have the same choices during the after-school program as well. Thus, the non-profit organization Sports Camp, Inc. was formed and the after-school Sports CLUB program began. Sports CLUB is dedicated to helping children achieve a balanced lifestyle that includes equal emphasis on academics, the arts and athletics. The program provides students with homework help, arts and crafts, and a variety of physical activities between 2:45-6:30 p.m. Today, the program has grown significantly and is making a positive impact on over 1000 students in Collier County.
