The library’s story begins in 1913, when the Ladies Improvement Association established the library. In 1938, the Delray Beach Public Library Association was founded as a non-profit corporation to provide public library services to the community. For the past 70 years, Delray Beach Public Library has provided library services to its patrons through an effective public-private partnership between the City of Delray Beach and the Library Association. The City of Delray Beach has provided a major portion of the library’s annual operating budget, while the Library Association has raised funds for capital needs. The Library Association is committed to providing quality library services and resources to meet the evolving needs and expectations of its patrons. Through its commitment to excellence in library services, the Library Association has become an integral part of the community and has grown to become a vibrant and respected institution in Delray Beach.

SCGP is located in downtown Delray Beach, Florida, and is a permaculture-based project. At 30 N Swinton Ave, visitors can explore the food forest, discovering how caring for plants and the earth can also benefit us. A variety of growing methods and structures are used to address existing air flow, microclimates, and energy in the space. Traditional raised beds, log beds, planting guilds, grow bags, and banana circles are all utilized. By visiting SCGP, families can learn about permaculture, edible plants, and the science and art of growing food.
