Walter Evans, the founder of the Shihan School of Survival in Florida, holds the prestigious title of Shihan, or master teacher. His martial arts journey began back in 1969 when he earned his green belt in Taekwondo under the tutelage of Atahi Lee, a 9th degree black belt from Korea. Two years later, he was introduced to Dr. Moses Powell, Soke Lil’ John Davis, and Professor Florendo M. Visitaction. Since that time, Shihan Evans has been devoted to providing educational and physical development opportunities to the Tampa Bay area. He has formed partnerships with a myriad of local organizations such as Life Force Cultural Arts Academy, James B. Sanderlin Center, Fairmont Park Elementary School, and Child’s Park YMCA, to name a few. Through these efforts, Shihan Evans has been able to share his knowledge of martial arts, self-defense, and a healthier lifestyle with the youth in his community.
