At Suzuki Music Schools, we are dedicated to inspiring young minds to experience the joy of music. Our two Connecticut locations in Westport and Orange are 501(c)3 community music schools that prioritize a high standard of musical education. We use the Suzuki method, a method that not only promotes excellence in music but also develops respect, discipline, personal confidence, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. All of this is done in a nurturing environment that also enriches family bonds. 

Our mission is to provide a high standard of musical education using the philosophy and methodology of Dr. Shin’ichi Suzuki. We believe in offering a nurturing environment to develop excellent musical skills and to guide all our students towards a lifelong love and understanding of music. We encourage our students to share their gifts with others within the wider community.

General Music Classes are a fun and creative way to introduce your child to music. If your child is younger than five years old, we recommend you enroll in a general music class for at least a year before taking an instrument. We also suggest that you enroll for at least a semester in a course run at SMSW since our courses are designed to help the transition into private instrumental lessons and are part of the Suzuki curriculum. Please read our terms of service for this class before enrolling.

Early Childhood Education Classes

At Suzuki Music Schools, we excel at developing musical ability in children of all ages. Our cadre of talented instructors believe that all children can develop fine musical talents the same way they learn to speak – through listening, imitation, repetition and a positive motivational environment created by parents.

Instrument Programs

The Suzuki School Honors program is for highly motivated students interested in a rounded musical education. The Honors program is defined by a concentrated musical curriculum that includes private lessons, ensemble training, music theory, and community service. Student progress is assessed through an annual evaluation. Official documentation of achievement is given, including documentation from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, ABRSM. The Honors course requires an annual enrollment, but graduation from any level is not expected within one year. The Honors program is split into three levels. Students are admitted to the Honors Program through a live audition process. The honors program includes a fully integrated curriculum covered by an all-inclusive fee.

This school has created the most welcoming environment for students. Under the watchful eyes of their Suzuki teachers, I've seen many children grow into magnificent musicians and human beings. You won't be able to find a better music school than this one.

I'm sure they have a great school, but I can't comment because we were only there for the concert. But from what I saw, the performance space was lovely and lively, the location was convenient, and there was plenty of parking.
