About Silk City Gymnastics & Dance in Manchester, CT
Silk City Gymnastics and Dance is continuing the great tradition of Wininger’s Gymnastics and Dance, established in 1974. The new owners, Lazar and Iliana Gakev, have kept the same philosophy and coaching staff as the original gym, while also creating an enjoyable environment for gymnastics and dance classes. Lazar and Iliana Gakev bring a wealth of experience to the gym. They have both achieved numerous medals for their gymnastics performances in international competitions, Lazar being an alternate for the 1988 Olympic Games and Iliana competing at the 1994 World Championships. Furthermore, they have both earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Gymnastics Coaching. Silk City Gymnastics and Dance are committed to providing the highest quality gymnastics and dance instruction in the area. With Lazar and Iliana at the helm, they will continue to create an enjoyable atmosphere while imparting their knowledge and expertise to their students.

BeAKid
“Parent and Me” gymnastics classes Age: 1½-3 years
This is the beginning of your child’s journey in the world of gymnastics! Our “Parent and Me” gymnastics classes are designed to stimulate creative play while helping your child build strength, confidence and coordination in a fun and safe environment. During class our coaches will give you instructions about using the gymnastics apparatuses and specialized equipment. Our coaches will guide your child and help teach you how to safely lead them through organized circuits of walking across beams, climbing ladders, rolling down inclines, hanging on bars, and swinging on rings and ropes. As a result, it will be a great opportunity for you to meet other families with similar interest in gymnastics and will allow your toddler to socialize with other children of their own age group. Our goal is to offer your child exciting atmosphere and encourage physical activity to help build fundamental motor skills all while having fun.

Preschool Classes Age: 3-5 years
It’s so much FUN! Our Preschool classes are one of the most progressive and innovative programs available today. Children receive instructions on all gymnastics apparatuses as well as the use of specialized preschool equipment, such as inclines, barrels, slides, tunnels, parachute and a full size trampoline. Our Preschool program is regarded as “play with a purpose” in a fun filled healthy environment for your child. Our highly trained staff get actively involved with your child which is evident by the laughter and applause that comes from the children in our Preschool gymnastics classes. For our 3 year old classes, parents are asked to come into the gym for the first month because your child needs help with some directional skills. For our 4 and 5 year old classes, the child should be entirely independent of her/his parent. There are viewing windows in the waiting rooms, so you can see your child during gymnastics class.

Dance classes Age: 3-18 years
Our Dance program is designed to create the atmosphere where children can build their self esteem and express themselves through the art of dance. We offer a wide variety of dance classes such as Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Ballet and our dance teachers will help every child to prepare and perform their dancing skills for our annual Recital at the end of each school year. So, come and enjoy our dance classes!
