Glen Heggstad's commitment to martial arts has had a lasting impact on the Coachella Valley. In 1987, Heggstad founded CVBJJ, a premier martial arts academy in the Coachella Valley. After two decades of commuting from Palm Springs to Los Angeles to train with the best, Heggstad earned Black Belt teaching credentials in Shotokan, Kung Fu, Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. To bring an "LA quality school" to the Coachella Valley, Heggstad opened the first local grappling academy, using worn-out wrestling mats at the Palm Springs Youth Center. Heggstad's two best students, Dan McCown and Anthony Mantanona, took the reigns of the school and beyond all expectations, CVBJJ has become the largest and most successful training facility in the region. His commitment to martial arts has developed numerous successful competitors and Heggstad himself embarked on a five-year motorcycle journey around the world. Today, CVBJJ thrives as a testament to Heggstad's dedication to the martial arts community.
