This Oakland-based organization was founded and led mainly by women and People of Color. Their mission is to challenge oppressive dynamics and environments through urban farming and access to the natural environment. ANV is dedicated to elevating the lives of youth and their families in Oakland and beyond. The organization strives to create safe and creative outdoor spaces for youth and families to learn about nutrition, food production, healthy living, and the natural environment. Through these initiatives, ANV works to strengthen the ties between the young people and their families, as well as their connection with the community.
Your Camper(s) will participate in so many activities, including Gardening, Cooking, Dance, Archery, Visual Arts, and MORE! Since 2012, our Summer Camp, and our Fall, Winter, and Spring school holiday camps offer these opportunities for your child: Provides a safe space for youth to learn the business and JOY of sustainable agriculture, Conducts activities that promote fitness, Teaches students healthy cooking and nutrition, Offers campers the opportunity to complete art, science, and reading projects, And develops financial literacy by depositing earnings from the harvest into bank accounts that can only be used by students for educational purposes.

After School Program
The ANV After-School Program will offer snacks, homework support, and enrichment activities like: Farming, Art, Science, and organized outdoor activities. ANV After School Program will run from Monday through Friday after school until 6:00 pm, with pick-ups from Acorn Woodland Elementary School, EnCompass Academy, RISE Community School, and New Highland Academy. If participating youth do not attend any of these schools, it is the guardian’s responsibility to bring their child(ren) to the program once the school day has ended.
