The Council has served thousands of members and volunteers since its founding in 1923. The legacy of Miss Ruth Kirkland and her sister Irene continues to this day, as Camp Fire groups still remain the oldest, continuously operating program of the Council. The Council currently provides services to “classic clubs” from the Orange County area. Thanks to the vision of Miss Ruth Kirkland and Irene, the Council has been able to provide quality services to its members for nearly a century.

Summer Camp
Camp Fire is a non-profit, volunteer based organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and their families for over 100 years! Along with traditional camp and club programs, Camp Fire has developed community outreach programs in response to the changing profile of today’s youth and families. Youth at-risk, children with special needs, and families who need financial assistance find enriching experiences through Camp Fire’s specialized programs. Camp Fire works to realize the dignity and worth of each individual and to eliminate human barriers based on all assumptions that prejudge individuals. Designed and implemented to reduce sexual, racial, religious, and cultural stereotypes and to foster positive intercultural relationships, in Camp Fire, everyone is welcome.

Camp Fire Learn and Experience the Outdoors (LEO)
LEO is an outdoor day camp experience offered, during the school year, that provides the opportunity for youth to learn and experience different aspects of their environment in a way that engages them in hands-on activities, encourages problem solving, and offers STEM based activities.
Held outside in our five-acre camp, your child will explore the environment based on a weekly theme. After their school day has ended, the two-hour program will start with traditional camp songs socially distanced and masked at the flag pole, before branching off in cohorts to start on the day’s nature activity, and low ropes challenge course/physical activity.
