Grant Collins, the head instructor at Optimus BJJ, has been a martial artist for 25 years, earning a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a 1st degree black belt in Hapkido, and a 2nd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Mauricio “Tinguinha” Mariano. His passion and dedication to the martial arts is evident in the top-notch instruction he provides to his students. Kid’s Program
Optimus Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Laguna Niguel is home of ‘The Winning Attitude Kid’s Program’. Students gain strength, skill, and physical agility while becoming more respectful, disciplined, and confident. We teach children step by step to effectively defend themselves, even against bigger opponents. We also dedicate the entire month of October to our Bully Defense Program in which the kids learn to set personal boundaries and avoid being the victim of bullies. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has proven itself to be the best martial art a child can learn. In addition to strengthening your child with Jiu-Jitsu we want to forge your child into an excellent person who will have mastery in all areas of life. We have a passion for teaching your child to set goals then apply discipline and perseverance to achieve those goals. Along with having the confidence and personal power to become their best they should also be humble, polite, and respectful to their elders. Each day our patient instructors will mold your child into a strong and powerful person of good character.

Muay Thai Kickboxing
The Optimus Muay Thai Kickboxing Program is headed by Coach Yannick. Coach Yannick comes to us from Peru where he is well known as a champion in the ring. Yannick began his training at the age of 12 and has gone on to prove himself among the best kick-boxers in South America. Coach Yannick recently relocated Orange County with the goal of providing the best Muay Thai instruction possible. We are blessed to have such a talented and dedicated coach leading the Optimus Muay Thai Kickboxing program. Muay Thai is the “Art of Eight Limbs” because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight “points of contact,” as opposed to “two points” (fists) in boxing and “four points” (hands and feet) used in combat sports such as kickboxing. This rigorous program builds powerful self defense skills and burns up to 800 calories per hour.
