About Butokuden Martial Arts Training Center of Irvine in Irvine, CA

Welcome to BUTOKUDEN, a unique martial arts center offering classes in a variety of traditional Japanese arts. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced martial artist, our experienced instructors can guide you through the basics and beyond. Our classes include KENDO, KARATE, NAGINATA, AIKIDO and JODO, and our instructors are knowledgeable in the history and philosophy of each discipline. We also offer classes in the traditional Japanese art of KADO (Sogetsuryu Ikebana Flower Arrangement) and Bushido culture, which teaches participants the philosophy of Bushido. Come join us and explore the secrets of ancient Japanese martial arts and culture. Our classes are suitable for all levels and are an excellent way to learn more about traditional Japanese arts and culture.

BeAKid
Karate Kids Class A Beginners ( 7 -14 years old)

Enshin Karate Kids Class A is for kids who are ages 7-14. Here, we teach the very basics of Enshin Karate such as kihon, kata and introductory Sabaki techniques. More so, our goal for this class is to instill discipline and respect while providing a dynamic, fun learning environment.

KENDO JUNIOR (BASIC/ADVANCED)

This class is divided into two separate groups, Basic and Advanced. Basic group focuses in children just starting Kendo, without wearing Bogu (Kendo Equipment gear). The Advanced group focuses in children who have completed the Basic Kendo class and/or have been approved by the Sensei (instructor) to proceed to the next level.

JODO

Jodo is often called ‘The way of the stick.’ This martial art uses a short wooden staff, called a ‘jo’, to defend oneself against an attacker using a Japanese sword. The jo and the sword, called ‘tachi’, form a complimentary method of ‘keiko’ or training.
