Beginning with a solid base in classical horsemanship, the goal is to cultivate riders who grow to learn and respect the extraordinary rewards of an equine relationship. The teaching system developed at Elvenstar emphasizes the art of communication between the horse and the rider. Our focus on the basics of riding as the building blocks of correct riding skills is renowned. The facility, with all of the bells and whistles of a premier classroom, allows students at all levels the ability to grow and develop their individual equestrian excellence.

ELVENSTAR’S DAY CAMP

Come learn to ride in a safe and fun environment! Elvenstar day camps are designed to teach all aspects of horsemanship from riding skills to horse care. Schedule includes riding, grooming, tacking, and additional activities such as arts and crafts, games and equine videos. Horse care topics include: grooming, tack care, and proper and safe handling of horses.

LEVEL 1 – TINY TOTS

A walk/trot class designed for young riders that have moved up from Mommy & Me. The focus is on improving their riding skills as they develop the muscle and balance required to handle a small horse or pony. Students will learn basic terminology used in horsemanship. This is a 45 minute lesson with a maximum of 5 riders. Elvenstar can provide a loaner riding helmet and vest to riders just starting out in our Tiny Tot lessons.

LEVEL 2 – WALK TROT

A walk/trot class designed for young riders that are just starting their riding adventure. The focus is on improving their riding skills as they develop the muscle and balance required to handle a horse or pony. Students will learn basic terminology used in horsemanship. This is a 1 hour lesson with a maximum of 6 riders. Elvenstar can provide a loaner riding helmet and vest to riders for their first few lessons.

LEVEL 3 – BEGINNING EQUITATION

Students will continue working on correct body position and proper handling of the horse. Riders will learn to recognize the correct diagonal at the trot, perform circles, figure eights, and obstacle courses to challenge their abilities and build a strong foundation. When the rider is ready, cantering will be introduced. Students will continue to learn terminology including horse colors, parts of the horse, and parts of the saddle and bridle. This is an hour long lesson with a maximum of 6 riders.
