Parents searching for ways to help their kids develop skills in strategic thinking and problem-solving should look no further than the Berkeley Chess School. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offers a wide range of chess instruction and activities to help kids learn and grow. From regional chess tournaments, including an all-girls event, to winter, spring and summer chess camps, there’s something for everyone.
The Berkeley Chess School also offers a Friday night chess program in Berkeley, San Ramon, Walnut Creek and Mountain House. Each session includes a class and a USCF rated tournament. Kids who are more advanced can participate in specialized classes and master classes throughout the week. Additionally, the Berkeley Chess School brings chess instruction to Title One schools and has an international chess exchange program.

Our Spring/ Summer camp will be fun, engaging and challenging! You can meet new friends who share a love of chess while improving your game and learning new strategies. Our wonderful Berkeley Chess Center will provide a spacious and airy location for our camp, with a large playground for lots of outdoor activities (weather permitting). Masks are optional.

The Berkeley Chess School’s chess programs are designed for beginning, intermediate and advanced students of all ages. They provide a rigorous training in chess while making the process fun, with skilled and engaging instructors and an eye toward personal growth.

Friday Night Chess
We offer a great Friday Night Chess program in Berkeley, Mountain House, San Ramon and Walnut Creek. The program is two hours each night and includes a class and a USCF rated tournament, a current USChess membership is required.
