About Fresh Air Family

Founded in 2006, Fresh Air Family has expanded to offer more than 400 outdoor activities, ranging from family outings to school field trips to fossil hunts. For the more adventurous, we offer canoeing, birding, caving, and orienteering. Our Gross Out Camp even lets kids explore science without even knowing it. Our outreach of more than 10,000 people includes a diverse mix of young and not-so-young families, married couples, single adults, and children. With highly trained experts leading the way, our mission is to help families explore and appreciate the natural world.

Gross Out Day Camp
Want to catch a salamander? Race Roly Polies? How about finding animal tracks? Or making friendships with some legless reptiles? It’s science, but please don’t tell the kids! Enjoy a week of hands-on field biology sure to impress next year's teachers! Fresh Air Family is offering award-winning Gross Out Day Camps in Birmingham, Vestavia, Trussville, Tuscaloosa, Wetumpka, Pelham, Huntsville, Rogersville, and Pell City. All in a safe atmosphere, we will see reptiles, bugs, stinky plants, and more.

Hike Led by a Naturalist, All Ages
Hikes can be stand-alone activities with a goal in mind - wetland studies, fossils, finding creatures, or storytelling related to the plants and animals. Hikes are also paired with all of our field trips. Let us know what you are interested in and we will match you with an expert naturalist to meet your goals.
