About Joy Greisen Jewish Education Center in Anchorage, AK

Our 5 acre private property provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor exploration, from hiking trails to playgrounds. No matter the season or weather, the Joy Greisen JEC provides an outdoor learning experience to all of our students. The Joy Greisen JEC is a non-profit early education center that offers a unique blend of secular and Judaic learning. Our 5 acre private property is complete with trees, hiking trails, and playgrounds, making it a perfect location for outdoor learning experiences. Through our curriculum, we focus on teaching Jewish values and social emotional learning alongside academics. We invite families of all faiths to explore our center and appreciate the values we put into practice. No matter the season or weather, the Joy Greisen JEC provides an outdoor learning experience to all of our students.

Programs at Joy Greisen Jewish Education Center in Anchorage, AK

Infant

Child will smile spontaneously at people, will begin to babble, and imitate sounds. Your child will respond to affection and enjoy play. Your child will be able to roll over from their tummy to their back and hold their head steady, when lying on their tummy, they will be able to push up their body to the elbow.

Toddler

Enjoys being with other children, will begin to play with and alongside them, and will mimic them, especially if they are older. May show defiant behavior. Can point out things around them or in pictures when they are named. Can name familiar people, say simple sentences, repeat things that are overheard, and follow two-step instructions like "pick up the ball and put it in the chest." Begins to sort things by shape and color. May begin developing a dominant hand. Can kick and throw a ball overhand. Can stand on tiptoes, and can climb onto and off of furniture without assistance.

School Age Programs

Our School Age Programs provide care for children ages 5 - 15 years They include before and after school care, programming during inservice days, break camps, and Camp Sholom in the summer.
