In the wild and wonderful state of Alaska, otherwise known as AK, a group of fantastically creative kids gather every day to unleash their artistic spirits. These imaginative youngsters are members of the Cool Moose Art & Crafts Crew, named after their beloved and quirky mascot, Monty the Moose. Monty is not your regular moose, oh no! He wears funky glasses that are as colorful as the Northern Lights, and he has a paintbrush always tucked behind his ear. Now, let's get to the kids of the Cool Moose Art & Crafts Crew. They live amidst the snowy mountains and icy lakes, but their creativity is as warm as the midnight sun. They are expert igloo builders, using vibrant paints to transform the icy structures into dazzling masterpieces. They’re known for making the prettiest dreamcatchers from icicles and the most festive ornaments from pinecones. From totem poles that tell a thousand tales to paper maché salmon that you swear could swim away, they create magic with their hands. No two days are ever alike with the Cool Moose Art & Crafts Crew. One day they might be sculpting snow bears that make the real ones jealous, and the next, they might be weaving rugs out of seaweed that make the ocean waves giggle. And Monty? He's right there with them, cheering them on with his big, hearty moose laugh that echoes across the Alaskan wilderness. This is Alaska, a land of endless adventure and imagination, where kids are artists, and a goofy, glasses-wearing moose is their biggest fan!

Since 1973, the Sitka Fine Arts Camp (SFAC) has been providing Alaskan youth with a unique opportunity to explore the arts. With many remote communities in the state, young people often have limited or no access to quality arts programs. It is SFAC’s mission to provide these youth with the chance to gain exposure and training in the arts. SFAC has grown into a program of national recognition, with over one thousand students attending annually from Alaska and beyond. Young people are now able to interact with professional artists and gain a greater appreciation for the arts. It is clear that SFAC’s mission of providing access to the arts has been successful and is continuing to make a difference in the lives of many.
