About Madison Public Library - Alicia Ashman Library

For 145 years, Madison Public Library has been a cornerstone of the City of Madison. With nine branches located throughout the city and open six days a week (with limited Sunday hours), MPL prides itself on promoting education, literacy and community involvement. Over two million visits are welcomed every year, providing Madison residents with access to books, computers and a variety of programs and resources. From story times for children to courses for adults, MPL is a source of knowledge and enrichment for the entire community.

Baby Gym
Help your baby gain pre-literacy and social skills and have fun at the same time! Baby Gym offers gross motor activities, snacks, and innovative play materials to help develop bodies and minds. For babies aged 3 months to 18 months. Drop in between 10:00am-12:00pm to make friends and play!

Storytime (ages 5 & under)
Engaging with books, songs and playful experiences all help children develop communication skills, patience, empathy, and pre-reading skills​ and helps to build a lifelong love of reading. We will start with a short storytime and then have playtime.

Art for Little Ones
Join artist Amy Mietzel for hands-on art activities inspired by picture books! We'll start by doing a read-aloud of the book - then use materials to make art creations. Additional books that fit the theme will also be available for caregivers and youth to read together. For ages 2-5. Siblings & groups welcome.
