BeAKid
JUNIOR ROWING
Camp Randall Rowing Club (CRRC) offers a competitive rowing program for high school students throughout our community. No previous experience is required. This program, known as Juniors in the world of rowing, is also open to mature 8th grade students who have some previous rowing experience.
Our Junior program goals:
To develop student-athletes and help them achieve their goals
Be competitive annually at a national level while also providing athletes with the knowledge and skills base necessary to row and train at a higher level.
To train the “whole athlete”. This includes gaining athletic maturity and developing good pre-performance routines (nutrition, sleep, hydration, stretching, etc) to learning how to prevent injury and be able to better hold themselves accountable on and off the water.
For athletes to be able to practice in small boats, developing their boat-moving abilities.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ROWING
CRRC’s Middle School rowing program is designed for young athletes in 6-8th grades. Athletes will learn the basics of rowing in a relaxed, supportive and fun environment and build on what they learned in previous sessions. Athletes will practice the essentials of sculling (two oars per person) and sweep rowing (one oar per person) in racing shells on Lake Monona with land-based training on rowing machines (ergs).
Our middle school program is a 5-week program bringing the sport of rowing to area 6th-8th grade students. This program will focus on the FUNdamentals of rowing in a safe and engaging environment.
Middle school crew works on agility, strength, and teamwork while gaining hands-on experience in sculling boats on Lake Monona. Our coaching staff will provide instructional coaching and feedback on technique while the athletes develop an understanding of safety, rules of the water, self-awareness, sculling technique, and fitness.

Summer Camps
Summer is a great time to experience rowing on Lake Monona and Monona Bay. We offer recreational summer programs that offer area youth the chance to learn rowing for the first time or to continue developing their rowing skills. Our camps take a creative approach to the fundamentals of sculling for all experience levels.
Designed with the developing athlete in mind, our camps prioritize fun methods of learning through boat tricks, games, and more. All athletes, from the true novice to the experienced will develop a better understanding of rowing while becoming comfortable and confident. Skill development will focus on the fundamentals of the rowing stroke. Our camps include dry-land training and educational activities geared towards developing the whole athlete. This includes but is not limited to safety, team building, and general fitness.
