Deep in the heart of the Lone Star State, where the sun blazes like a chili pepper in a cowboy's mouth, exists a bustling tribe of merrymakers known as the Texas Tadpoles. These aren't your ordinary tadpoles, though. They're kids from all over the state of Texas, from the dusty plains of Amarillo to the thriving metropolis of Houston, who've swapped their cowboy boots for flippers and their ten-gallon hats for snorkels. 

Among these Tadpoles, there's one quite special character named Pecos Pete. Pecos Pete is no ordinary boy; he's a freckled, buck-toothed, whiz kid with a laughter as contagious as a tumbleweed rolling through the desert. He's as legendary as the Lone Star itself and is said to have been born during a Texas-sized thunderstorm, which explains his uncanny passion for all things water.

Pecos Pete is the undisputed leader of the Texas Tadpoles. He's notorious for his audacious dives and belly flops that send a splash soaring higher than a rodeo bull on a sugar rush! Pete and his team of Tadpoles turn the intense Texas heat into a wild water rodeo, hopping from rivers to lakes, and even the Gulf of Mexico.

They swim like fish at the Guadalupe River, snorkel around the coral reefs of the Gulf, and even ride the waves at South Padre Island, turning the Texas heat into the coolest summer extravaganza. So, if you ever find yourself in Texas, look for a kid with a wild laugh, a splash that could drench a cactus, and an army of water-loving pals. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Since 1947, we have been offering a unique residential camping experience for individuals with disabilities. At Camp Summit, we focus on what our campers can do, rather than what they can't. We offer a variety of traditional camp activities, all of which are adapted to each individual's needs and abilities. Our facilities are completely barrier-free, and our staff is not only well-trained, but also deeply caring. Campers are grouped by age, allowing them to build friendships within their peer groups, all while having a great time and embarking on new adventures.

Situated on a beautiful 460-acre plot in Paradise, Texas, just north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Camp Summit is the ideal location for a safe and fun camping experience. We are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed as a Youth Camp in the State of Texas. Our campers may have physical challenges, developmental delays, dual-sensory impairments, or multiple disabilities. At Heart O' the Hills, we have meticulously designed our program with an emphasis on fostering personal growth and character development. Our camp offers diverse 2- and 4-week overnight sessions, packed with over 50 instructional activities. Austin Sunshine Camps has been offering enjoyable, overnight summer camp programs to children in the greater Austin area, completely free of cost since 1928. We continue this tradition by offering free programs to not only returning campers but also new campers who either meet the eligibility for free or reduced school meals or are part of the foster care system. We believe in providing an enriching summer experience without any financial burdens.

Austin YMBL Sunshine Camp

For over six decades, the Quillian Center has been a haven for children looking to enjoy a memorable summer camp experience. Nestled in the heart of Houston's vibrant westside, Camp Quillian has won the hearts of the Westchase District community, becoming the most popular choice for a summer camp. Accredited by the American Camp Association, we offer day camp services for children aged 5-12 and a special Teen Camp for those aged 13-14. With flexible camp hours running from 8AM to 6:30PM, we provide an experience that is both enjoyable and convenient.

We understand that each family's schedule differs, and as such, we are pleased to offer half-day options for both morning and afternoon sessions. Morning half-day campers are welcome to join us as soon as our doors open, where they can partake in specialty camps and grand assemblies. These campers can be picked up at the end of their lunchtime. Our afternoon half-day campers begin their adventure at 1PM, participating in facility rotations, special events, and daily swimming opportunities. Pick up time for these campers is 6:30PM when our camp closes.

Camp Quillian is not only about fun, but also about diverse activities that keep children engaged. We boast a host of resources including a gymnasium, two swimming pools, an indoor climbing wall, game rooms, athletic fields, and a playground. Our programs are designed to cater to a variety of interests, from indoor and outdoor sports to enrichment classes, arts and crafts, special events, guest speakers, and games. We even host a Vacation Bible Camp! This summer, we're going for gold as we celebrate the 2024 Summer Olympics.
