About Kids First Swim School of Charleston
When it comes to introducing kids to swimming, it's normal for children to feel anxious. On the first day of lessons, it's not uncommon for kids to feel nervous or scared. However, with regular, weekly sessions, these anxieties tend to diminish over time. To help your child get familiar with the pool, why not take them to a Family Swim? This gives them the chance to use the pool in an environment they're comfortable in. Play can also be a great way to help kids learn to swim. So, parents, keep encouraging your child and remind them that this is a skill for life that they'll benefit from forever!
Swimming is a valuable life skill for children, but anxieties can arise when they first start taking lessons. These worries can be especially intense on the first day. Fortunately, as they attend regular lessons these fears are likely to lessen. To make the learning process easier, many swimming facilities offer Family Swims. This gives kids the chance to use the pool without the pressure of a lesson. Additionally, play can be a great teaching aid. So, parents, stick with it and remember that you're giving your child a great gift that will last a lifetime.

INFANTS & TODDLERS
Children are born with a natural affinity for the water. The sooner they are started back in the water, the quicker they learn and the less likely it is that they will grow afraid of it. This program is designed for children from ages 3 months through 3 years old and will allow you and your child to take the first steps towards a lifetime of swimming proficiency, together. That’s right….you join your child in the water! Each half hour session is supervised by a specially trained instructor who will lead you through a series of exercises and activities that will be fun and instructive for your child. The weekly routine that we observe teaches kids their primary skills of buoyancy, propulsion and breath control.
SMALL GROUP LESSONS (3 YEARS TO 12 YEARS)
Swimmers will work in small classes of no more than five (5) comparably skilled children to master our eight patented Kids FIRST® /Kick FIRST® skill levels. Classes meet once a week. Children are evaluated at the end of each session and report cards are issued, documenting your child’s progress.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION (2 YEARS TO ADULTS)
A program that offers one-on-one training for the beginner through intermediate swimmer. The child will progress through the skill levels, while developing balance, confidence and swimming skills with their own personal instructor. Following a half-hour lesson, children are invited to stay to practice for a half hour.
