Now, let me introduce you to their leader, a character as wild as an Atlantic storm, and as legendary as a pirate's tale, Captain Chuckles! No, he's not a real captain, and he doesn't have a ship, but he does have a surfboard, a nose that squirts water when he laughs (hence the name, Captain Chuckles) and a spirit as mighty as the Incredible Hulk. Every morning, just as the southern sun peeks over the horizon, Captain Chuckles and his surf squad hit the sandy shores of Myrtle Beach. With surfboards under their arms, they charge toward the foamy waves like knights going into a joust. Then off they go, soaring over the water, their laughter echoing over the sea. Captain Chuckles, with his wild, wind-tousled hair and his peculiar water-squirting snout, is always at the front, leading his team in the most hilarious and daring surf stunts. They flip, they spin, they even do the chicken dance on their surfboards! Yes, you heard it right - the chicken dance! These aren't just any kids, and Captain Chuckles isn't just any leader. For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.

We are also committed to making music lessons accessible to everyone. Our 10am-8pm Eastern, six days a week schedule makes it possible for everyone to find a time that works for them. Finally, our music instructors are dedicated to helping our students reach their musical goals. Our instructors are passionate about music and share their knowledge and expertise with their students. They are well respected members of the music community in Columbia, SC and are committed to being both teachers and mentors.
