Swimming in Rhode Island is more than just a sport. It's a thrilling adventure that turns ordinary kids into extraordinary swimmers. The kids who participate in swimming here are not your regular kids. Oh no, they are Rhode Island's super swimmers, and their superpower is their uncanny ability to swim like a fish and laugh like a dolphin at the same time. 

Leading the pack of these super swimmers is a cool imaginary character named Splash McFin, a hilarious half-kid, half-merman with goggle-shaped eyes and webbed fingers, who's as quick with a joke as he is in the water. Splash is famous for his belly laughs, inspiring swimming stories, and his signature move - the whirlpool whirl – a swimming stunt that involves swirling at high speed to create a mini whirlpool. 

Splash and his super swimming squad traverse the waters of Rhode Island with non-stop giggles, frolicking in the waves, and making memories that shimmer like the sun on the tide. Each splash they make is filled with laughter, and each stroke propels them further into RI's swimming adventures. For more than six decades, the MacColl YMCA has been offering families top-notch programs such as childcare, swimming, and camping. The new two-story, 52,000-square-foot building includes a 25-yard lap pool, a family activity pool with a double loop waterslide and spray area, a full-court gymnasium with six half courts for basketball and other sports, and a 5,000-square-foot wellness center. It also features outdoor amenities such as hiking trails, outdoor group exercise pavilion, outdoor basketball courts, and a summertime aquatic campus. Our purpose-built facility is conveniently located at the intersection of main roads leading to Providence, making it an ideal location for busy parents. Our building is a one-level fireproof shingled structure designed for optimal learning. The large windows and open floor plan are recommended by the DCYF for free thinking and creativity.

Our teachers are highly experienced and educated in early childhood education. They are required to pass full criminal background checks from both local and federal law enforcement agencies. To ensure the safety of your child, we have updated the security and fire systems to the latest state-of-the art technology. In addition, the building is heated and cooled with top-end systems for comfortable days.

Run by the Boys & Girls Club, Camp Grosvenor is a state-licensed 8-week summer camp situated on 95 beautiful acres alongside the Pettaquamscutt River in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and offers a wide variety of activities, such as a high/low ropes course, climbing wall, swimming, arts & crafts, archery, field games, water trampoline, dance, and more. Camp Grosvenor is open five days a week from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with extended care hours available to accommodate working parents. Breakfast and lunch are provided at no additional cost to all income eligible children and transportation is available from Newport County, South County, and Westerly. Camp Grosvenor is located on land granted by Historic New England, a not-for-profit organization that preserves and operates thirty-seven historic sites in New England, four of which are in Rhode Island.

Camp Watchaug, located on Watchaug Pond, is the perfect place for your child to make new friends, learn new skills, and enjoy a wide variety of activities. With almost 30 acres of woods, courts, and fields, Camp Watchaug offers a huge selection of activities, both on land and in the water. Children ages 4 to entering 9th grade have the opportunity to take part in daily swim lessons and recreation swims, as well as activities such as archery, gaga, sailing, ropes courses, and a climbing wall. Every camper is placed in a small group and has the same counselor for the duration of the camp, which allows the counselor to focus on each individual camper and help them to maximize their experience. At Camp Watchaug, your child will experience a fun and engaging environment where they can try new things, develop new skills, and learn how to play with others.
