Collective Learning Inc., doing business as BeAKid ("we," "us," or "our"), is committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our website at beakid.com (the "Site"), the BeAKid mobile app (our marketplace app for parents), the BeAKid-Brain mobile app (our learning app for children), and all related products and services (collectively, the "Services").

We operate multiple products that serve different audiences — parents, children, educational service providers, and school districts. This policy covers all of our Services, with dedicated sections describing each app where their practices differ. 1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide to Us

Account Information

When you create an account on any of our Services, we collect your name, email address, and account credentials. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and an account identifier from that provider; we never receive or store your Apple or Google password. Service providers may also provide business name, address, phone number, and professional credentials. School district administrators provide institutional contact information.

Child Profile Information (BeAKid app)

In the BeAKid app, parents may create profiles for their children to personalize activity recommendations. These profiles are created and managed entirely by the parent and contain the child’s first name, age, and activity interests (for example, swimming or robotics). Children do not use the BeAKid app and never provide information directly. Parents can edit or delete child profiles at any time from the app.

Child Profile Information (BeAKid-Brain app)

Parents may create child profiles in BeAKid-Brain containing a first name or nickname and grade level only.

Profile Photos

You may optionally add a profile photo to your parent account. Photos are stored on our servers and can be removed at any time.

Program and Provider Information

Service providers submit program descriptions, pricing, schedules, photos, and other content related to their educational offerings.

Payment Information

When you make purchases or subscribe to paid services, payment information is processed by our third-party payment processors (such as Stripe for web transactions and Apple for App Store purchases). We do not store credit card numbers, bank account numbers, or other sensitive financial data on our servers.

Communications and Content

When you contact us for support, message other parents, post in parent groups, leave reviews, save favorites, or submit an activity inquiry (such as "Request Price & Schedule"), we collect the content of those communications and submissions.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with our Services, including pages and screens visited, features used, search queries, and actions taken on the platform.

Device and Technical Data

We collect device type, operating system, browser type, IP address, and app version for analytics, security, and support purposes. If you enable push notifications, we collect a device push token so we can deliver them.

Location Information

On our website, we derive general location (city/region level) from your IP address. In the BeAKid mobile app, with your permission, we collect your device’s precise location (GPS) to show activities, camps, events, and places near you. You can decline location access and instead choose your city manually — the app remains fully functional. Your location is used only to provide nearby results and is never used for advertising, behavioral profiling, or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to enhance your experience, analyze usage patterns, and support our sponsored content partnerships. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Our mobile apps do not use advertising or tracking cookies. See Section 6 for details on our advertising practices.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

We may receive information from third-party services you use to log in (such as Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple), from our payment processors regarding transaction status, and from service providers who integrate with our platform.

We use the information we collect to:

Show you activities, camps, events, and groups near you, personalized to your children’s ages and interests
Relay your activity inquiries — when you tap "Request Price & Schedule," we send your inquiry to the relevant provider on your behalf
Process transactions and manage subscriptions
Connect parents with educational service providers through our marketplace
Enable service providers to manage their programs and enrollments
Support school districts in coordinating educational programs
Provide educational content and track learning progress in BeAKid-Brain
Send notifications you’ve enabled (for example, a spot opening up, a friend joining, or a class reminder)
Communicate with you about your account, transactions, and service updates
Display relevant sponsored content and affiliate recommendations on our website (see Section 6)
Analyze usage patterns to improve our products and user experience
Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

3.1 Within the BeAKid Ecosystem

When you register for a program or submit a "Request Price & Schedule" inquiry, the provider receives your name, contact information, and the child information relevant to the inquiry (such as age and interest) so they can respond
Service provider profiles and program information are displayed publicly on our marketplace
Content you post in parent groups, reviews, and messages is visible to the audiences you share it with

3.2 Service Providers and Partners

Payment processors (Stripe, Apple) to process transactions
Hosting and infrastructure providers (DigitalOcean) to operate our Services
Email service providers (Postmark) to send transactional communications
Push notification delivery (Expo) to deliver mobile notifications you’ve enabled
Analytics providers to help us understand usage patterns (we use privacy-respecting analytics tools)

3.3 Sponsored Content Partners

We may share aggregate, non-personally-identifiable data with our sponsored content and affiliate partners to measure campaign effectiveness. We never share individual user data, email addresses, or personal information with advertisers.

4. Children’s Privacy and COPPA Compliance

We take children’s privacy very seriously. This section describes how we handle children’s data across all our Services.

4.1 BeAKid Website and Marketplace

Our website and marketplace are intended for use by adults (parents, guardians, service providers, and school administrators). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our website. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 through the website, we will promptly delete it.

4.2 BeAKid Mobile App

The BeAKid mobile app is designed for and used by parents and guardians — not children. Children never provide personal information directly. The only children’s information in the app is entered by parents themselves — a child’s first name, age, and activity interests — and is used solely to personalize activity recommendations and, when a parent chooses, to give a provider context for an inquiry or registration. We collect no photos, location, contacts, or identifiers from children. Parents can review, edit, or delete child profiles at any time in the app, and deleting a parent account deletes all associated child profiles.

4.3 BeAKid-Brain App

BeAKid-Brain is designed for use by children and is fully compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The BeAKid-Brain App Privacy Policy at https://beakid.com/brain/privacy provides detailed information about children’s data protections, including:

Only parents create accounts and child profiles — children never provide personal information directly
We collect only the minimum data necessary: first name/nickname, grade level, and educational performance data
We do not collect photos, videos, audio, geolocation, contacts, or social media identifiers from children
The app contains no advertisements, tracking pixels, or third-party advertising SDKs
Parents have full rights to review, modify, and delete their child’s data

4.4 Parental Rights

Parents and guardians have the right to review their child’s personal information, request its deletion, and refuse further collection at any time. 5. Data for Service Providers and Schools

5.1 Service Provider Data

If you are an educational service provider, we process your business information, program data, and client interactions to provide our SaaS platform services. You are responsible for your own compliance with applicable privacy laws regarding the personal information of your clients and students.

5.2 School District Data

When working with school districts, we comply with FERPA and other applicable education privacy laws. We process student education records only as directed by the school district and as a "school official" with "legitimate educational interest" as defined under FERPA. We do not use student education records for advertising or create student profiles for non-educational purposes.

6. Advertising and Sponsored Content

Our approach to advertising differs across our Services:

6.1 BeAKid Website and Marketplace

The BeAKid website features sponsored content and affiliate links from educational service providers and relevant brands. This may include featured program listings, sponsored articles, and affiliate recommendations. All sponsored content is clearly labeled. We use cookies and tracking technologies on our website to measure the effectiveness of sponsored content and to display relevant recommendations. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings.

6.2 BeAKid Mobile App

The BeAKid mobile app contains no third-party display advertising and no advertising SDKs. Providers may pay for promoted placement of their listings (for example, a featured position or highlighted map pin); promoted listings are clearly distinguished. Promoted placement is based on the provider’s subscription — never on your personal data — and we do not use behavioral targeting in the app.

6.3 BeAKid-Brain App

The BeAKid-Brain mobile app is completely ad-free. There are no banner ads, video ads, sponsored content, affiliate links, or any form of advertising within the app. We do not use advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or behavioral targeting in BeAKid-Brain. This is a firm commitment to providing a safe, distraction-free learning environment for children.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including:

HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit
Passwords protected with industry-standard salted hashing — we never store plain-text passwords
Secure on-device storage of authentication tokens in our mobile apps
Firewall-protected servers with restricted database access
Regular security reviews and monitoring

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Active accounts: Data is retained while your account is active and for up to 30 days after deletion to allow for account recovery
Service provider data: Program and business information is retained while the provider’s account is active
Child profile data: Deleted when the parent removes the profile or deletes their account
Transaction records: Retained as required by applicable tax and accounting laws
Analytics data: Aggregated, anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly within our apps at any time: in the BeAKid app, go to Profile → Account → Delete account; in BeAKid-Brain, go to Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: it removes your account, all child profiles, saved items, messages, and any other data we hold about you and your children. Once deleted, the data cannot be recovered. If you prefer not to use the in-app option, you may also contact us at privacy@beakid.com to request deletion.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information
Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
Opt-Out: Opt out of certain data processing activities, including marketing communications
Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent (such as location access or push notifications), withdraw that consent at any time

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information of any users.

10. International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access our Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using our Services, you consent to this transfer. We process data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on our Site, updating the "Last Updated" date, and sending an email to registered users when appropriate. Your continued use of our Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
