A professional dancer teaches the fundamentals of modern, jazz and tap dance techniques. Children will learn the basic elements of dance, explore movement on many different levels and engage the use of energy in movement. Using traditional and contemporary music, children will execute the dance techniques and culminate the workshop in a final performance.

Multicultural Drumming (Grades K – 12)
Multicultural Drumming (Grades K – 12)A residency designed to teach children The History of the Drum through performance, storytelling, interactive participation and craft making while combining literacy and creative writing components. The students will learn about various percussion instruments and rhythmic patterns from around the world and how they are used in the music of various continents such as, Africa, South America, The Caribbean and North America. This workshop is taught by a Master Percussionist with over 20 years of professional experience.

Collage and Shadow Box (Pre-K-12)
A wide variety of applications using graphic arts paper, photographs, drawings, and scratch art for flat collages and assemblages. Including: Healing Hands, Home of the Future, Travelocity, Juxtaposition, Off the Grid Montage, and Nature Walk.
Students will learn the principles of collage by experimenting with a variety of collage techniques and materials. Techniques included are Tear Art, Photo Collage, Healing Hands, and Cubist. The emphasis is on using the student’s face, figure, and environment as inspiration and model. Each week students will be exposed collage samples of collage masters (Romare Bearden, John Heartfield, etc.), and the work of students in their respective age bracket.
