About Jersey Shore Arena in Wall, NJ
The Jersey Shore Arena is proud to present the Learn to Skate USA Program. This inexpensive, recreational group lesson program is open to students from Pre-School through Adult. The Learn to Skate USA program is designed to develop skills that students need to move on to our advanced hockey and figure skating programs. We strive to provide our students with skills appropriate to their age level in a fun and safe environment! We offer a World, International and National level Senior coaching staff as well as an entire Learn to Skate USA staff of United States Figure Skating Learn To Skate USA registered coaches. Levels are determined by the United States Figure Skating Learn To Skate USA Program evaluation description. Please see program description for levels offered.

Snowplow Sam 1
Snowplow Sam 1 teaches skaters how to: Sit and stand up, on and off ice March in place March forward March, then glide on two feet Dip in place Once skaters can demonstrate the above skills, they can progress onto Snowplow Sam 2. Lesson Schedule Snowplow Sam 1 meets for 30-minute sessions once a week, unless otherwise noted, with half hour of practice to follow.

Snowplow Sam 2 teaches skaters: Marching followed by a long glide Dipping while moving Backward walking, toes turned inward, shifting weight Backward wiggles Forward swizzles Beginning snowplow stop (in place or holding on to a barrier) Two-foot hop in place (optional) Once skaters can demonstrate the above skills, they can progress onto Snowplow Sam 3.

Snowplow Sam 3
Snowplow Sam 3 teaches skaters: Forward skating Forward one-foot glide Forward swizzles Backward swizzles Moving forward snowplow stop (two-foot) Curves Once skaters can demonstrate the above skills, they can progress onto Snowplow Sam 4 or Hockey 1. Skaters who turn 6 before finishing Snowplow Sam 3 will move into Basic 1 or 2.
