EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSICIAN PROGRAM
The Bill Wright School of Music in Sparta, NJ is now offering an Early Childhood Musician Program for children aged 3 through 6 years old. The program will offer a sound start in music training. Although this is a fun experience for young children, it is not a play group. The classes will offer the younger child an opportunity to acquire actual proficiency in musical endeavor. Children participating in this program are also encouraged to take private lessons with one of the school’s early childhood music instructors to further compliment the learning experience.
If you have a child who has expressed a real interest in learning and you are having difficulty finding that learning experience, this could be the music education experience you have been looking for. Children who complete the course receive a certificate stating they have achieved early childhood musicianship skills. It is a launching point for those who show a real interest in music. It also provides young people an opportunity to pursue skill enhancement by gaining a head start, before they study a particular instrument. For others, it offers an opportunity for musical discovery.

Guitar, Ukulele
5 years of age is the earliest we recommend for guitar or ukulele lessons. At this age we would recommend a ¾ or ½ size guitar and/or a standard size ukulele. Guitar and Ukulele playing requires a fair amount of pressure on the fingertips from pressing on the strings. Children under 5 generally have small hands and may find playing uncomfortable.

Drums
The average age for our youngest drum students is 8. This varies greatly depending on the size of the child. They have to be able to reach both the pedals and they cymbals.
