About Rising Sun Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Ridgefield Park, NJ
We are a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Academy that offers Brazilian JiuJitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Training Center for Cage Fighters and Grappling Competitors, Women’s Cardio Kickboxing, and Classical Okinawan Karate including Groundwork. The Rising Sun Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy was established in 2004 and has become an integral part of our community by providing proven self defense techniques and seminars, helping kids, teens and adults to learn how to defend themselves and much more. We love to compete although it is strictly voluntary. But what Competition does is that it allows you to test your jiu jitsu versus others.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/MMA
The heart of the MMA ground game is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Without strong BJJ skills, you will never be a top contender in MMA or in the BJJ game. Takedowns, submissions, escapes and above all understanding of movement are all integral parts of this human "chess match". Our BJJ program is overseen and personally instructed by a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blackbelt. Kids Program ages 5-15, Adult Program ages 16 and up.

Karate
The definition of Kempo is "Fist Method"... the definition of Newaza is "Ground Fighting". What makes this style unique is Kempo Karate - which employs low kicks, vast hand movements, angles, multiple strikes, tuite jitsu (stand up grappling much like small circle jiu jitsu) and various striking techniques designed for life protection, not sport, with combat Brazilian jiu jitsu.

KIDS/TEENS MMA
Our Mixed Martial Arts Program combines grappling with stand-up disciplines such as muay thai, karate and boxing. What better way to teach our youth complete self-defense by applying the ground game and stand-up together in a safe, controlled environment. This will not only teach them life protection but they will gain confidence, skill and learn restraint through respect and discipline.
