About Princeton Blairstown Center in Hardwick Township, NJ
For more than 115 years, the Princeton-Blairstown Center has provided adventure-based, experiential education to youth from historically marginalized communities. What began in 1908 as a summer camp run by Princeton University students and faculty has evolved into an outdoor education center with a wide variety of year-round programs serving nearly 6,000 young people each year. Summer Bridge Program as well as our Venture Out and Leader-in-Training Programs
serve as the centerpieces of the Center's work, providing educational programs designed to lessen learning loss to approximately 650 students from historically marginalized communities in Trenton, Newark, and Camden, NJ free of charge.

summer bridge program
The Princeton-Blairstown Center's Summer Bridge Program is a one-week leadership and academic enrichment program that is designed to serve approximately 550-600 young people from historically marginalized communities, free of charge. Summer Bridge provides access and equity to transformative outdoor experiences, and helps students:
Lessen summer learning loss;
Build critical 21st Century skills like cooperation, communication, creativity, and critical-thinking; and
Develop positive climate and culture by forming supportive relationships with peers and adults.

The Princeton-Blairstown Center is the perfect choice for customized adventure-based Outdoor Education school trips, group retreats, scout groups, and religious organizations. One of the few programs accredited by both the Association of Experiential Education and the American Camp Association, the Center’s evidence-based programs help school and youth leaders build climate and culture by developing leadership skills, building relationships, and achieving a stronger group cohesion.

Revised in 2021, the Princeton-Blairstown Center now offers fifteen curriculum-aligned environmental education programs perfect for schools, featuring inquiry-based, hands-on science learning. Each program combines outdoor exploration with STEM- and SEL-reinforcing activities to help participants engage more deeply with science and the scientific method. Our curriculum is aligned to middle school curriculum standards. However, Center staff can help high school teachers plan the use of our outdoor classroom for higher-level, hands-on biology and environmental/earth science classes.
