About North Jersey Aquatics

Our goal at North Jersey Aquatics is to provide the ideal learning environment for swimmers at every single level. Our program starts with infants at 3 months old and systematically teaches learn to swim to our young children by using an innovative approach to learn to swim. We teach the science behind swimming to even our youngest swimmers, through understanding body position, buoyancy, and propulsion. North Jersey Aquatics is a premier swim school that provides a customized or ages 3 months to adult in an ideal learning environment for each individual swimmer. We were founded with the mission to meet each swimmer at his/her current cognitive and physical level and formulate a curriculum plan that will ensure they achieve their goals efficiently at a speed they are comfortable with.

PARENT CHILD BEGINNER: 3-20 MONTHS – 3:1

This class is designed as a child’s first experience in an aquatic environment. Using a model of early childhood education, our program works to help infants and toddlers develop a life-long love of water through song and play while also incorporating large safety components of learning breath control, buoyancy and finding the way back to the safety of the wall. We offer a compassionate introduction to water and safety and therefore create families who love the water and will continue swimming for recreation, health, and competition.

PARENT CHILD ADVANCED: 15-36 MONTHS – 3:1

This class is designed for infants and toddlers to continue to work on more advanced safety skills while adjusting to separation from their parent/guardian. Swimmers continue to work on breath control, buoyancy, and movement, building on the skills from Parent-Child Beginner. This could also be a first introduction to water for children ages 20+ months who have never taken a class before. At age 30 months, swimmers become eligible to move to a Level 1A curriculum if they are ready to begin following directions, complete class independently with a teacher, and are safe in the pool with a flotation device. A child can go directly from PC Advanced to 1a (without moving to a transition class) if they receive a recommendation from our teachers, are completely ready for 1a, and are at least 2.5 years old.

1B: AGES 3.5+ – 3:1

This class is designed as the next experience for children ages 3.5+ who have already graduated 1A in our program, or a first experience for swimmers ages 6+. Swimmers in this level are physically and cognitively ready to learn to swim independently of a flotation device. In this level swimmers build strength and endurance in the water by swimming longer distances and beginning to use unassisted back floats for rest. Swimmers will exit this level able to perform a swim-float-swim progression unassisted.
