Let me introduce you to the glitter-dusted, paint-splattered state of New Jersey, a land brimming with colors so vibrant, it makes even the rainbow look like a black and white rerun! The Garden State, as it's fondly called, is a canvas to countless kids who love to dive headfirst into the flamboyant world of Arts & Crafts. Meet our imaginary character, Doodle McDazzle, a funny, googly-eyed, paintbrush-wielding critter, who hops around the city, leaving a trail of creativity wherever he goes. Doodle lives in the bustling heart of New Jersey, in a house made of Popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, and a roof of felt paper. In the morning, he brushes his teeth with glitter toothpaste, uses a comb made of colored pencils, and eats a breakfast of crayon croissants! The children of New Jersey are just as creative as Doodle McDazzle. Armed with tubes of glue, paint pots, and a limitless imagination, they are little wizards, transforming everyday objects into magnificent art. They can turn a simple rock into a cuddly pet, a toilet paper roll into a super telescope, or even a shoebox into a spectacular spaceship! The spirit of New Jersey thrives in these young artists, their hands as busy as honey bees, their minds buzzing with creative energy. They paint the town, quite literally, with their imagination, their laughter echoing in the air. For they believe, as Doodle McDazzle often says, "Art and Crafts isn’t just about making things, it's about making things FUN!" And that's the colorful, crafty, and wonderfully wacky world of Art & Crafts in New Jersey!

Our teachers get to know children on every level including how they learn, play and communicate. We personalize learning with individualized attention to fit each child’s interest and abilities. Bergenfield’s first lending library was located in a small room in Mutual Hall on Front and Van Houten streets at the end of World War I. In 1920, the Library moved to the second floor of Town Hall where it grew from one to four rooms, until it relocated to Borough Hall in 1936. As the Borough of Bergenfield grew post-World War II, so did the demand for Library services. During the 1960s, the Library Board of Trustees and the Friends of the Library (which was organized in 1961) began a concentrated effort to build a dedicated space for the Bergenfield Public Library. Construction at 50 West Clinton Avenue began in 1967; the new facility, which the Library has called home for 51 years, opened in 1968. Throughout its nearly 100-year history, community leaders had the foresight to know that a public library would play an important role in the growth and well being of the town. In 2003, the Library moved to temporary quarters and a major renovation and expansion funded by a State Library Grant and Borough funds began. Dedicated in 2005, the new space helped expand programming for children and teens, and paved the way for vital improvements such as English as a Second Language tutoring, greater access to public computers, job and career assistance, adult quiet study rooms, and more.
